Come learn how to pin your own jewel beetles, taught by our own biology educator! Each ticket comes with a reserved seat in our class, a pinning kit with all the needed supplies, and two of your very own beetles to pin and take home! Mounting supplies not included.

About the event
Jewel beetles are aptly named for their brilliant colors and shiny iridescence! These little creatures are truly the gems of the biological world! This week we'll be getting to know two species, Chrysochroa fulminans and Chrysochroa aurora.
We will also learn the ins and outs of spreading beetle wings! Unlike butterflies, beetles have wings that are robust and can tolerate a significant amount of handling, however, they are protected by sturdy elytra and much more tricky to access. By the end of the night you'll have an all new understanding of beetles and what makes these little rainbow tanks tick!
Each ticket reserves a seat in our class which will include a presentation segment, in which we will learn more about this magical critter, an instructional demonstration, and a pinning session in which attendees will be able to pin their own specimens with the help of our instructor.
